Lightweight Breadboards Provide Flat, Stable Surface

BOSTON, MA - New high-performance, lightweight breadboards from Kinetic Systems, Inc., are ideal for OEM applications such as prototyping, mounting small optical systems, mounting lasers, optical assembly, inspection areas, and other uses requiring a flat, stable surface. Available in 5 standard configurations with a variety of thicknesses, VIBRALITE breadboards provide a flatness of ±0.004" over a 24" x 24" area, and feature high natural frequency and nominal broadband damping.

The very light, nonmagnetic Series 5500 VIBRALITE AL has a structural core of extruded aluminum surrounded by a 3/16" anodized aluminum skin. Ideal for small-scale applications that require excellent rigidity, this series is available either 1" or 2" thick and in sizes up to 24" x 48". Removable elastomeric iso feet are standard.

The economical, ferromagnetic Series 5600 VIBRALITE SS has an extruded aluminum core surrounded by a l/8 in. skin of stainless steel. This series is available either 1" or 2" thick and in sizes up to 48" x 96". Removable elastomeric iso feet are standard. The honeycomb-core Series 5700 VIBRALITE HC is constructed of corrosion-resistant, plated-steel, hexagonal cells beneath a 3/16" ferromagnetic stainless steel top skin. The bottom skin is 1/16" low-carbon steel with a polyurethane finish. Providing high static stiffness, this series is available either 2" or 4" thick and in sizes up to 48" x 96".

The general-purpose, honeycomb-core Series 5800 VIBRALITE HCL has a slightly thinner skin (1/8"), but otherwise is identical to the Series 5700. Available in sizes up to 48" x 96". The extremely light Series 6100 VIBRALITE LW offers portability at an economical price. The ferromagnetic stainless steel skin, covering an aluminum core, is only 0.075" thick. It is available either 1" or 2" thick and in sizes up to 48" x 96".

These "mini-tables" are built with the same precision tooling and high-quality materials used by Kinetic Systems for their full-size optical tables. Epoxy-laminated under pressure with the top skin against a master tool plate, all models offer SPILLPRUF tapped mounting holes (1/4-20 or M6 thread), which are sealed off in rows to channel liquids away from the core and simplify cleanup. Optional Level-Lok tiedowns fasten a breadboard to another surface, enabling the user to establish a level work surface and lock it down. Custom sizes and cutouts are available for all models, and inquiries for OEM applications are encouraged.

For noncritical applications where a high-performance breadboard is not required, Kinetic Systems also offers low-cost Series 7000 Mounting Plates. Half an inch thick with an anodized finish and tapped through holes, these are available in sizes up to 24" x 48", providing a flatness of ±0.030" over a 24" x 24" area. Other Kinetic Systems products include Series 9000 Nonisolated Workstations featuring a rigid support system, telescopically adjustable legs, and a choice of tabletops with load capacities up to 800 lbs.

Kinetic Systems, Inc., is a leader in the design, manufacture, and marketing of vibration isolation equipment, optical tables, and related accessories for use in a wide range of industries worldwide, including research and development, quality control, laboratories, and semiconductor manufacturing.
