Light Source supports maskless lithography applications.July 31, 2014 -
Suitable for printed circuit board industry, iLLUMINA® features fiber coupled laser output with output power up to 37 W and wavelengths at 405 nm and 375 nm. Unit provides digital imaging, or maskless lithography, where image data can be optimally scaled or distorted just prior to writing, addressing specific needs for registration, as well as for elimination of process steps and masks that contribute to alignment errors.

LITTLE ROCK, AR, – Power Technology, Inc., a leader in the Photonics Industry for 45 years, announced today that it has developed a revolutionary new laser-based lithography light source ideal for printed circuit boards. The iLLUMINA® features a fiber coupled laser output with an output power up to 37W and wavelengths at 405nm (“h-line”) and 375nm (near “i-line”). These features make the iLLUMINA® ideal for a variety of maskless lithography applications.
Traditionally the lithography industry has relied on a mask process that can cause dimensional distortions as well as registration and alignment errors in printed circuit boards. The iLLUMINA® provides digital imaging, or maskless lithography, where image data can be optimally scaled or distorted just prior to writing, addressing the specific needs for registration, as well as for the elimination of process steps and masks that contribute greatly to alignment errors.
The iLLUMINA’s® use of PTI’s proprietary light source allows the reproduction of lithographic patterns with exceptionally high resolution and rapid design turnaround without the use of a water chiller.
“The printed circuit board industry has long used a lithography technology that makes high resolution or tight registration printing difficult. Power Technology’s ground-breaking iLLUMINA® Lithography Laser finally offers a high speed alternative to conventional printing techniques,” stated Walter Burgess, Vice President of Sales at Power Technology. “The iLLUMINA® actively compensates for distortions in PCB technology, providing high speed and accurate registration.”
