Light, Flexible Insulation targets cold-end exhaust systems.

Press Release Summary:

Used for thermal and acoustic insulation of cold-end exhaust systems, such as middle silencer and rear silencer, ISOLITE XP Filling does not produce any polluting polypropylene or polyethylene residues. Flexible configuration of spherical fiber bundle supports insertion into component, shape of bundle facilitates mounting, and popcorn-effect of expanding fiber, which occurs during first heating phase, and ensures insulation material fills space in ideal way.

ISOLITE XP Filling - a Product Innovation at the 65th IAA Commercial Vehicles

Expanding spherical insulation material ISOLITE XP Filling for cold-end exhaust systems

Increased durability provides permanent thermal and acoustic insulation

Variable product characteristics facilitate use in geometrically challenging installation spaces

Ludwigshafen am Rhein (Germany) — ISOLITE presents its new product ISOLITE XP Filling at booth A41 in hall 16 at this year`s IAA Commercial Vehicles, which takes place in Hanover from 25 September to 2 October. The particularly light and flexible material is a convincing comprehensive solution for insulations of cold-end exhaust systems such as middle silencer and rear silencer. When introducing its first insulation fibre in this range of application, the leading expert in the commercial vehicle, automotive and aviation fields builds on comprehensive and long-standing expertise in hot-end technologies. With the development of ISOLITE XP Filling, the company from Ludwigshafen provides its customers with an easy-to-mount, cost-effective insulation solution.

“ISOLITE XP Filling uses the expanding characteristics of our innovative XP technology in a whole new field of application,” says Matthias Kroll, Managing Director of the ISOLITE Group. “Due to high mileages, applications in commercial vehicles make up a very sophisticated product field. This is why we developed ISOLITE XP Filling as a sustainable solution for a particularly durable thermal and acoustic insulation effect.”

Silencers normally feature a layer-like structure. Insulation mats or small plastic bags were often used up to now. However, these do not meet the demands of complex constructions. In particular interspaces or hollows as well as narrow angles or edges create a high degree of difficulty. Also, assembly operations often cause a number of challenges such as protruding fibre filaments during the welding process. With the newly developed insulating fibre ISOLITE XP Filling, ISOLITE provides a solution for the requirements in the field of cold-end insulation. In contrast to conventional products, ISOLITE XP Filling is a convincing proposition due to the flexible configuration of the spherical fibre bundle. The variable density of the material depending on the requirements allows the acoustic effectiveness to be determined individually via the filling level. The flexible design of the ultra-light insulation bundle supports insertion into the component. The shape of the bundle is in accordance with the application-specific requirements and allows an easy-to-mount application. Thanks to the well-known “popcorn-effect” of the expanding fibre which occurs during the first heating phase, the insulation material fills the space in a virtually ideal way and achieves effective thermal and acoustic insulation, even in geometrically sophisticated exhaust systems. Compared to other solutions, ISOLITE XP Filling does not produce any polluting polypropylene or polyethylene residues, and this makes it an environmentally friendly alternative.
