Columbus McKinnon(R) Offers Series 653 Lever Operated Hoist

AMHERST, N.Y., U.S.A., March 18-21, 2002 - Columbus McKinnon®, the leading manufacturer of hoist and chain products in North America, now offers a series 653 lever operated hoist, a high quality, rugged steel tool for close quarter pulling, stretching, and hoisting applications. The series 653 lever tool has a lifting capability from 3/4 to 3 tons (750 to 3000 kilograms) and a standard lift from five to 10 feet (1.5 to 10 meters).
The lightweight series 653 hoist is housed in a durable impact-resistant stamped steel frame gear case and cover. A powder coated finish is added for added corrosion protection and a rubber handle grip is included for added operator comfort.
The series 653 lever tool comes with a Weston type braking system for positive load control and positioning. Simple one-handed, free chaining for fast load attachment, double pawl arraignment for assured load control, and two chain guide rollers for positive chain engagement are all new features to the series 653.
The series 653 hoist load sharing gears and chains are made from hardened steel for strength and long wear life. Both the upper and lower hooks are forged and come with heavy cast steel latches. New Shipyard hooks, designed to be used with select steel body lever operated hoists in the ship building and metals fabrication industries are also available. The upper and lower shipyard hooks are available in 1 V2 and 3 ton working load limit sizes and come only with a latch.
The series 653 hoist is also metric capacity rated, which enables it to be sold into any market in the world. This hoist also meets ASME B30.21 manual lever operated hoist standards and the European CE standard. There is minimal maintenance with no special tools required.
