Tualatin OR USA -- Medical E-News Daily™ -- Laser plastic welding specialist LPKF Laser & Electronics has announced it will debut the PrecisionWeld laser welding system at this year's MD&M East Exposition. The event takes place June 18-20 2013, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia PA.

The system, which can join clear polymers without special additives, will be demonstrated throughout the three-day event in booth 2013. Samples will be welded on the machine during the show and handed out.

Ultra-Precise

The LPKF PrecisionWeld is a new laser welding system developed specifically for the expanding microfluidic industry. It can create weld seams with a thickness under 100µm and has repeatability of 10µm, a level of precision necessary for joining modern microfluidic devices.

ClearJoining

The system can join plastic two ways: with traditional transmission laser welding or with the new LPKF ClearJoining technology. With traditional transmission laser welding, the parts to be joined must have different absorption properties. However, with ClearJoining technology, two transparent parts can be joined together without the need for any special absorbers or additives.

Compact Footprint

A compact system that can fit through every laboratory door, the LPKF PrecisionWeld is ideal for prototyping and small batch production. The system is equipped with an integrated vision system that allows compensation for tolerances in applications.

System Features

• 56 µm beam spot results in <100µm welds

• Fiducial recognition camera

• X/Y table for working fields up to 12" by 12"

• Adjustable z-axis for creating wider welds

• Small footprint fits in any lab or production space
