November 10, 2004 - Intended for high-pressure mixing heads used for polyurethane processing, LaserSiteâ„¢ allows precise aim of manually directed shots in open pour applications or can be used as guide in programming robot pour patterns. Device projects 3 red dots onto surface of mold, indicating exact starting point of pour in mold and path at which mix head is directed. LaserSiteâ„¢ can be added to any high-pressure mix head with output nozzle length of 1.5 in. or greater.

Linden Industries Introduces LaserSite(tm) Technology

October 2004 - API Conference, Las Vegas, Linden Industries introduces the LaserSite(tm), a new technology for high-pressure polyurethane processing mixing heads.

LaserSite(tm) was developed for mix heads used in open pour applications. The mix head follows a specific pour pattern in the open mold to ensure adequate and uniform distribution before the mold is closed. The pour pattern can either be made manually by the operator or programmed to have a robot follow the pattern. In either case, actually making the pour or programming a robot path, the operator typically stands behind the mix head and has to estimate where the shot will go. The accuracy of pour patterns and robot path programming needed to be improved.

The LaserSite(tm), developed by Linden Industries, projects three red dots onto the surface of the mold indicating precisely where the shot is aimed. The three dots identify the exact starting point of the pour in the mold and path at which the mix head is directed. The LaserSite(tm) can be added to any high-pressure mix head with an output nozzle length of 1.5" or greater. The laser collar fits around the mix head nozzle.

There are two power options for the LaserSite(tm). The first is to integrate the guide into the mix head controls. When the mix head is in high pressure, the lasers are activated. The second power option is to have a small, dedicated battery pack attached to the mix head. The operator manually switches the lasers on and off as needed.

The LaserSite(tm) allows precise aim of manually directed shots in open pour applications or can be used as guide in programming robot pour patterns.
