July 1, 2002 - Periscope extension for Conoprobe can measure inner profiles and surfaces of pipes, tubes, and cylinders. When two Periscopes are used, pipe wall thickness can be measured. Accessory is available in lengths up to 20 in. ConoProbe makes non-contact measurements of machine parts and tools; plastic and rubber industrial molds; and other components, regardless of reflectivity of surface.

Laser Beam Measurement System Measures at Right Angles

Danvers, MA June 2002.Optimet, introduces their newest accessory, the Periscope, an extension for the Optimet Conoprobe, that can "bend" the laser beam 90°. The Periscope can measure inner profiles and surfaces of pipes, tubes and cylinders. When two systems are utilized, pipe wall thickness can easily be measured. This indispensable accessory can be customized in lengths up to 20".

The ConoProbe is ideally suited for making noncontact, precision measurements of: machine parts and tools, plastic and rubber industrial molds and components, automotive components, electronic components and more.

The ConoProbe measures a wide variety of surfaces which could never be measured by non-contact measurement techniques before, such as machined metals and other relatively shiny objects regardless of the reflectivity of the surface. The probe can also measure at angles very close to grazing incidence with the "Forbidden Zone" extending only 5 degrees from normal incidence from all directions. The Conoprobe is collinear, so blind corners can easily be measured with bending optics.

Optimet manufactures non-contact optical equipment for distance measurement and three-dimensional mapping of objects. Optimet's products are sold worldwide in over 25 countries.
