July 23, 2003 - Spectron diode-pumped, solid-state (DPSS) Laser Podules use side-pumped geometry, which consists of Nd:YAG-laser rod, located within stainless steel/ceramic pumping chamber, pumped by array of diode laser bars. Podules are driven by low-voltage electronics, ensuring that integration and certification is straightforward. Cooling is accomplished with water chiller.

GSI Lumonics Announces New Spectron DPSS Laser Podules

RUGBY, ENGLAND & FARMINGTON HILLS, MI. July 2003 -GSI Lumonics Inc. (Nasdaq: GSLI and TSX: LSI) announces a new series of side-pumped, diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) laser podules. Designed for the DPSS laser system OEM seeking to add value by use of
fundamental laser building blocks, the Spectron DPSS podules provide the very best in quality and value.

The podules are available in a number of configurations which allow for output powers in the range of 20W to 100W and make use of a straightforward, yet highly effective side-pumped geometry and design which consists of an Nd:YAG laser rod located within a stainless steel/ceramic pumping chamber, efficiently pumped by an array of long-life diode laser bars. These cost-effective,
maintenance-free podules will provide years of trouble-free service as well as unrivalled stability, uniformity, and optimal performance, in either multimode or TEMoo.

The Spectron DPSS podules are driven by low voltage electronics, ensuring that integration and certification is straightforward. Cooling is accomplished with the use of a water chiller. GSI
