All Fiber Beam Combiner for Red and Blue Lasers
Hamble, UK., 25 Aug. 06 - Point Source has developed an all fiber beam combiner for red and blue solid-state lasers. Designed for singlemode fiber beam delivery, the combiner employs the latest in fused fiber technology for ease of integration and long term stability.
The system has been designed as an integrated laser beam delivery system and beam combiner for blue solid-state lasers and red diode lasers. The singlemode fiber acts as a spatial filter for higher order laser modes and produces a TEM00 true Gaussian profile for the combined and co-linear output beams.
The all fiber nature of this beam combiner removes the need for bulk optics and optomechanics, greatly simplifying the integration of multiple laser sources for instrumentation. The reduced complexity also means the combiner system is immune to misalignment from shock, vibration and temperature effects.
The new beam combiner is primarily targeted at biomedical applications such as flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy. Point Source also plans to release new versions of the product in the near future.
