CGW Launches Cost-Reducing Polymer Lapping Line

NILES, ILL - May 2009 - CGW-Camel Grinding Wheels has partnered with Friction Control Solutions (FriCSo) to launch the new polymer lapping product line for hand-applied micro-finishing.

A breakthrough in technology, polymer lapping is designed to smooth die and mold surface finishes for reduced machine down times. It eliminates tumble deburring requirements and greatly reduces stamping lubrication needs. Polymer tools use low contact pressure to quickly remove high frequency grooves without changing the dimensions of a work piece.

The new patented polymer lapping line consists of eight tools and two abrasive compounds. The eight polymer tools are made in varying shapes and sizes and are used on air grinding tools. The abrasive compounds are available in 400 and 600 grits and must be used in conjunction with the polymer tools.

"Our polymer lapping line dramatically improves how dies and molds are maintained and extends the life span of the tool," said Joe O'Mera, president, CGW-Camel Grinding Wheels. "The new technology allows the hand-applied micro-finishing process to be more cost effective and efficient."

Polymer lapping tools are demonstrated online in the USA section of the CGW Web site (www.cgwheels.com).

CGW-Camel Grinding Wheels is one of the world's leading suppliers of grinding wheels since 1956. Its 90,000 square foot USA facility serves as a centralized warehouse with manufacturing capabilities and includes customer service, sales and marketing departments.
