WEDC Announces Max-Vu(TM) for AMLCD Protection

Hillsboro, OR - April 15, 2005 - White Electronic Designs Corporation (NASDAQ:WEDC) today introduces Max-Vu(TM) as a means of optimizing contrast and viewability of Active-Matrix Liquid-Crystal Displays (AMLCD) and at the same time offering protection from harsh environmental conditions.

Max-Vu provides the superior performance of glass lamination at an affordable price. By defining an efficient manufacturing process, throughput times are minimized while reliability is maximized. The result is an enhanced optical performance and ruggedized solution associated with military applications at reasonable cost.

WEDC's Max-Vu process includes an optically matched window bonded directly to the AMLCD using specifically formulated silicone. The window is optically coupled to the display resulting in increased optical performance. Max-Vu is an ideal solution for applications that require high contrast in high ambient light and in extreme environments such as outdoor navigation, GPS systems and embedded control systems.

Benefits of Max-Vu using the proprietary bonding material versus current air-gap solutions include decreased contamination from dust or dirt particles that can degrade the end product and reduced susceptibility to fog and moisture that can result in costly replacements. Utilizing the flexible bonding material versus epoxy resin provides the ability to control the hardness (durometer value) of the bonding material based upon specific applications.
