Beyond Overhead Lighting: GE's New Tetra® AL10 LED System Provides More Options to Illuminate Space, Enhance Ambiance

CLEVELAND-Retailers are finding that using layers of light to highlight details, improve visibility or enhance the mood is more than a trend; it just makes sense. Moving beyond ambient or overhead lighting with task or accent lighting maximizes selling space for retailers and draws customer attention to every detail. And, now, GE Lighting is adding energy savings to the mix of reasons why layered lighting pays off with its new linear LED system that combines versatility with superb quality of light and energy savings.

GE's new Tetra® AL10 LED System replaces fluorescent and halogen lighting in a variety of retail and architectural applications, including under shelf, cove, accent and task lighting. This low-profile modular fixture produces brilliant white light that meets the high standards of lighting designers, while reducing energy consumption by up to 40 percent compared with T5 fluorescent systems.

"The AL10 delivers great light distribution, color quality and high efficiency in a low profile package, which is critical for people seeking ways to illuminate every inch of space with functional style," says Melinda Mengert, Global Product Manager, GE Lighting Solutions. "We're seeing under shelf lighting becoming wildly popular in retail spaces because it serves as both task and accent lighting. Our slim, low-profile, modular fixture is an ideal solution because it offers multiple lengths, viewing angles and mounting angles-making it easy to incorporate into a wide array of designs and budgetary requirements."

GE's AL10 LED System offers a high color-rendering index of 93 and ANSI bin color temperature consistency of 2700K, 3000K and 4000K that enables the LED system to produce brilliant white light that meets the high standards of lighting designers. The design also allows for multiple lens options, available in 60-, 90- or 120-clear and 120-degree soft beam patterns. And, the fully dimmable (0-10V) Tetra AL10 uses a remote driver and multiple modules that can be wired in series for ease of installation.

The robust, low-voltage 12VDC Tetra AL10 System is rated to perform for 50,000 hours-reducing material and labor expenses associated with relamping. The innovative system consumes just 4.5 watts per foot (14.8 W/m) of energy to significantly lower operating costs and offer a competitive payback. It also contains no lead, mercury or glass and is RoHS compliant.
