Leviton Expands DECORAŽ Offering with New LED Sensor Guide Lights

Devices combine energy savings with designer styling and convenience

Melville, New York, August 13, 2009 - Leviton Manufacturing Co. has expanded its popular line of DECORAŽ wiring devices with three new stylish, energy-efficient LED sensor guide lights. These space-saving combination devices offer an extra measure of illumination for darkened areas of the home. They are ideal for adding comfort lighting to children's rooms and safety lighting for seniors, while minimizing energy consumption and costs.

The new line includes a DECORA Tamper-Resistant Receptacle with LED Guide Light;
a DECORA Single-Pole Switch with LED Guide Light; and a DECORA Full LED Guide Light. The Guide Light on each device incorporates a photocell sensor which automatically turns ON in response to reduced light levels and OFF when sufficient ambient light is detected. The LED guide light on the devices offers a long service life with no bulbs to replace.

The Tamper-Resistant Receptacle with Guide Light features a shutter mechanism inside the single receptacle that will, in most instances, block access to the device's contacts unless a two-prong plug is inserted. The device meets the 2008 NEC Code standard (Article 406.11) requiring all new residential construction to have tamper-resistant receptacles that help protect young children from the dangers of electricity.

The Combination Switch/Guide Light features the guide light on the top of the device and a horizontally-oriented rocker switch on the bottom of the device. This ergonomic design is especially suitable for installation in bathrooms and other darkened areas of the home to provide cost effective night lighting.

The Full LED Guide Light features a vertically-oriented guide light that runs the length of the device. It is ideal for providing cost-effective lighting for stairways and hallways.

The guide light on all three models consumes less than one watt of electricity and helps homeowners reduce energy consumption by eliminating the use of night lights or the need to keep lights on to illuminate areas such as hallways, bathrooms, kitchens and bedrooms.

All three devices feature an impact-resistant face and body plus self-grounding clips. They are designed to fit in a standard single-gang wallbox. Devices can be ganged with other DECORA devices and coordinate with Leviton's full line of DECORA products. They are available in White, Ivory, Almond and Light Almond colors and comply with UL, CSA and NOM standards.

DECORA is a registered trademark of Leviton Manufacturing Co.
