New G25 Direct Incandescent Replacement LED Lamps Shine in Decorative and Architectural Lighting Applications

TORRANCE, CA - September 9, 2003 - LEDtronics® announces G25-Style DécorLED direct incandescent replacement LED lamps. G25 DécorLEDs combine Indium Gallium Aluminum Phosphide (InGaAlP) and Silicon Carbide/Gallium Nitride (SiC/GaN) Light Emitting Diode (LED) technologies, standard 25mm Edison-screw bases and light maximizing designs. With power draws of 1.0 Watts - 1.7 Watts, 11-year LED operating lives and six sunlight-visible colors from which to select, solid-state G25 DécorLEDs provide architects, entertainment designers and other lighting professionals with the means to integrate ornamental illumination into maintenance-intensive applications.

Eighteen discrete LEDs are optimally configured to disperse light in either a 270° wide angle or a 30° acute angle depending upon the model. Individual high-intensity LEDs incorporate optical grade epoxy to produce bright vivid illumination. Colors available are Green (570nm, 525nm), White (4500K, 8000K), Blue (470nm, 505nm), Yellow (595nm), Red (660nm, 633nm), and Orange (612nm). Colored lenses or filters are not needed since LEDs emit colored light. The color is determined by the composition of the semiconductor material comprising the diode. A molded polycarbonate, UV- and shatter-resistant globe protects the LED cluster from environmental stresses. G25 DécorLED lamps are available in all common voltages from 120VDC/AC to 12/14 volts DC. They perform well in applications subjected to voltage dips or surges. Integrated current-limited resistors and polarity-protection diodes assure that no circuit modifications are required. Custom options are: Frosted/tinted bulbs, multi-colored lamps and special voltages. A19, G40A, S11 and S14 size bulbs as well as E27 European screw bases are also available.

G25 DécorLEDs are energy-efficient light sources, saving 80% - 90% of energy costs compared to a 15- or 20-Watt incandescent lamps. Because G25 DécorLEDs use very little energy and are virtually maintenance free the cost savings are substantial. Over the span of a decade, the energy saved per 1,000 G25 DécorLED lamps (including labor) equates to $140,000 (15W) and $184,000 (20W) when compared to equivalent incandescent lamps. These are conservative figures without adjustments for inflation.

Solid-state design renders LEDs impervious to electrical and mechanical shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental extremes. Additionally, with the use of multiple LEDs, an LED cluster lamp continues to provide light even if one or more emitters fail unlike when the filament breaks in an incandescent bulb. With an average life span of 100,000-plus hours (11 years), LEDs operate reliably year after year and are appropriate for many applications. DécorLED is an ideal solution for decorative and night task lighting applications including large message panels, billboards, scoreboards, time and temperature signs, arcade machines, casino accent light, theme and amusement parks, stage lighting, carnivals, theaters and ornamental lighting. DécorLEDs can be used as individual pixels in a large dot matrix screen, full color screens, moving signs and displays.

Founded in 1983, LEDtronics® leads where others only follow when it comes to designing, manufacturing and packaging state-of-the-art LEDs to meet the world's constantly changing lighting needs. Our inventive product line encompasses an array of direct incandescent lamp replacement Based LED Lamps, low-cost snap-in and relampable Panel Mount LED Lamps, high intensity sunlight-visible Discrete LEDs, PCB LEDs circuit board status indicators, surface mount diodes SMT LEDs, full-spectrum rainbow RGB LEDs and Infra-Red (IR) LEDs.

Prices for G25 DécorLEDs range from $31.50 - $49.50 each in quantities of 1,000 depending on LED technology and color. Availability is stock to 4 - 6 weeks for special requirements. G25 DécorLEDs carry a 3-year limited warranty.
