ATEN Bolsters LCD Product Line with New Eight- and 16-Port Dual Rail 19" LCD KVM Switches

FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif., -- ATEN today announced the launch of new eight- and 16-port dual rail LCD KVM switches that complement the company's comprehensive line of LCD products. The CL5808/CL5816 Slideaway(TM) switches enable access to multiple computers from two PS/2 or USB KVM consoles. A single CL5808/CL5816 can control up to eight or 16 computers. For expansion, as many as 31 additional compatible KVM switches can be daisy chained together, so that up to 256 or 512 computers can all be controlled from a single keyboard, monitor and mouse.

With ATEN's dual rail design, the CL5808/CL5816's 19" LCD monitor and keyboard/touchpad modules can slide independently of each other. To maximize server room real estate, the keyboard and touchpad slide to the back of the rack when not in use while the LCD monitor rotates flush against the rack -- allowing convenient monitoring of computer activity. The CL5808/CL5816 supports both PS/2- and USB-based keyboards and mice. There is an additional USB port on the front panel to connect peripheral devices such as flash and CD/DVD-ROM drives, etc. USB peripherals can be used to install software and OS patches, or create system backups to computers connected to the CL5808/CL5816. For users who prefer using an external mouse, there is also an extra USB mouse port.

"Complex IT infrastructures in today's businesses demand powerful solutions that provide flexible, convenient and centralized server room management," explained James Hsieh, CEO of ATEN. "Our new LCD KVMs integrates the latest technology in dual rail housing with advanced technical features to meet the uncompromising requirements of enterprise implementation."

The new CL5808 and CL5816 offer network administrators the following benefits:

-- ATEN's Slideaway(TM) functionality to maximize real estate in the rack

-- Users who already have a compatible KVM switch can quickly take advantage of the space saving and efficiency benefits of the sliding console module

-- External Console - supports PS/2 or USB external mice and keyboards

-- Dual Interface - supports either USB or PS/2 KVMs or computers

-- DDC Emulation - video settings of servers automatically adjust for optimum display

-- Broadcast Mode - lets users broadcast commands from the console to all connected computers/servers simultaneously (ideal for OS/firmware upgrades or system shutdowns)

Pricing and Availability

Available today, the CL5808 and CL5816 are priced at $1999.95 and $2199.95, and offer an affordable and convenient solution to manage a range of servers.
