Tango Wave Introduces a New Ultra-Compact, 400W Peak Ku-Band Power Amplifier with Optional Internal L-Band BUC for SNG

RAI AMSTERDAM  - - - Tango Wave, a premier global provider of SATCOM high power amplifier products introduces a new Ultra-Compact, 400W Peak, Ku-Band TWT-design outdoor power amplifier, with optional internal L-Band BUC, at the IBC 2016 Conference and Exhibition.

Tango Wave's new Model PA17-Ku400P is a Traveling Wave Tube (TWT) power amplifier that will deliver 180 watts of linear power over the 12.75-14.5 GHz band and offers small size and weight with less power consumption than existing amplifier products. The optional L-Band block up-converter (BUC) is an internal design that does not add to the size of the amplifier.

According to Travis Stewart, Vice President Engineering, “Satellite News Gathering (SNG) operators are looking for uplink amplifiers with lower power consumption, smaller size, less weight and more linear power. Efficiency is the driving factor in the Size, Weight and Power (SWaP) performance of our new SATCOM uplink amplifier.”

The carbon footprint of a PA17-Ku400P is driven by the high-efficiency power conversion of the traveling wave tube, an unmatched technology for power conversion. The compact amplifier measures just 17.0 inches (43.2 cm) (L) x 8.5 inches (21.6 cm) (W) x 8.5 inches (21.6 cm) (H), and weighs 32 pounds (14.5 kg). Additional specifications include: Linear power is 180W, Transmit Noise Power is -70 dBW/4 KHz, and Filter Receive Band is 0.65-12.75 GHz. In addition, the amplifier is equipped with internal redundancy control, eliminating the need for external controller. Internal monitor and control system provides Ethernet connectivity with plug and play web page interface for out of the box use.

System integrators and SNG operators can get additional information by visiting Tango Wave at IBC 2016 Exhibition, RAI Amsterdam, September 9 – 13, Hall 5, Stand 5.C77.

Tango Wave amplifier products cover Ku, DBS and Ka-band frequencies with power levels up to 750 watts; including options for redundancy, power combining and BUCs. Tango Wave provides innovative, safe and reliable products with value-added solutions. Common technology and modules, in addition to custom configurable components, offer advantages in size, weight and power over products currently available.
