Keyseat Cutter eliminates secondary operations.

Press Release Summary:

Designed for use on machining centers that load from automatic tool changer, Titespot keyseat cutting head uses positive displacement ball piston motor powered by 300-2,000 psi coolant system. Lathe version allows keyseat cutting in combination with turning and boring operations. Spindle rotation can be used as indexer to machine multiple keyways in one part. It is suitable for machining in bores down to ½ in. ID, and cutters are available in widths from 3/32 to 1/2 in.

Coolant Driven Keyseat Cutter Eliminates Secondary Operations

Eltool's Titespot keyseat cutting head eliminates costly secondary broaching or milling operations on gears, sheaves, hubs and pulleys. Designs for use on machining centers load easily from the automatic tool changer. A lathe version allows keyseat cutting to be combined with turning and boring operations. Both are available in all popular shank styles. The head incorporates a positive displacement ball piston motor powered by your high pressure (300-2000 PSI) coolant system. A 6.5 to l gear reduction generates up to l0 ft. lbs. of torque at l000 PSI coolant pressure. Because the machine spindle is not required to rotate the keyseat cutter, spindle rotation can be used as an indexer to machine multiple keyways in one part. Odd size or wide keyways can be produced by multiple passes. It is effective in both blind and through bore applications. The heads are available in four standard sizes, suitable for machining in bores down to ½"I.D. Cutters are available in widths from 3/32" to l/2". Other applications include slotting and oil grooving.
