Overview

ThinkCentre™ and ThinkPad® users can now enjoy the convenience and security offered by the IBM Preferred Pro USB Fingerprint Keyboard and IBM USB Fingerprint Reader. Instead of using passwords to access the Windows™ Login, Internet Web sites, the Lotus Notes® Login, and authentication on wireless networks, you can simply swipe your fingerprint (free software download required).

IT managers can appreciate the fact that this solution helps to decrease help desk calls due to lost passwords, since multiple unique passwords are available at your fingertips and stored securely on the computer. Since the user IDs and passwords are protected by the IBM Embedded Security Subsystem, you can be assured that your private information is secure.

The IBM Preferred Pro USB Fingerprint Keyboard takes advantage of IBM's legendary keyboard design and embeds a "swipe" style fingerprint reader in the palm rest. This feature is ideal for ThinkCentre systems or ThinkPad docking solutions. Also included is an Access IBM key, which gives you easy access to on-system and online information from IBM. This Business Black keyboard is available in many major languages.

The IBM USB Fingerprint Reader also includes a "swipe" reader. It is small in size making it convenient for travel use. It comes with two cables, a short one-foot cable for use with a ThinkPad, and a six-foot cable for use with a ThinkCentre or with ThinkPad docking solutions.

Key prerequisites

ThinkCentre and ThinkPad systems with USB port

Microsoft™ Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows XP
