Dormer Introduces Solid Carbide TiN Coated Tip Jobber Drill

Asheville, NC...June 25, 2002...Dormer Tools will feature the new R002 solid carbide jobber drill designed with a TiN coated tip to give extended life and superior wear resistance compared to conventional solid carbide jobber drills. Winner of the top UK Tooling Industry Award for product innovation, the R002 is coated 25% of the flute length to permit increased cutting speeds while minimizing drill production costs. The flute length is also shorter than standard to provide great rigidity, yet ensuring 5X diameter depth drilling capacity as opposed to the 4X diameter depth from standard carbide jobber drills. The R002 features patented CTW technology (continuously thinned web) --the web thinning is integrated into the flute design during production allowing for regrinding in a single basic operation for faster regrinding time and lower costs. In addition, less force is required to drive the drill through workpieces for less wear and tear on machine tools. The R002 is manufactured in sizes ranging from 3mm to 14mm, and 1/8" to 17/32" in diameter. The range also includes 29 key tap/drill sizes in fractional, letter and gauge sizes.

Also on display will be the new the A002 High Speed Steel Jobber Drill with TiN coating applied to the working end of the drill. The TiN coated drill point, combined with advanced helix and special point geometry, allows for lower cutting forces than a standard design while resisting flank and crater wear. These new jobber drills deliver longer tool life, more accurately produced holes and increase cutting performance through most materials while meeting growing demands for higher performance from traditional jobber drills, the workhorse of general machining.
