Burlington Medical Supplies Launches New Inventory Management System

Cutting-edge RFID technology simplifies inventory control for radiation protection garments at hospitals and medical care facilities.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Burlington Medical Supplies (BMS), in partnership with ODIN, the leading provider of RFID-enabled healthcare solutions, announces a revolutionary new concept for managing data for X-ray aprons and other radiation protection garments. The patent-pending Burlington Apron Inventory Management System (BAIMS) is available through BurmedID, a division of BMS.

X-ray aprons, thyroid shields and other radiation protection accessories made by Burlington have a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag embedded during manufacture. The BAIMS solution allows the customer to read the tag using an RFID-enabled tablet and record inspection data for each garment, giving the user a complete history of the equipment's safety and allowing the user to manage their inventory by maintaining relevant data, and storing the data safely to the BAIMS web server.

"This secure inventory management system for lead aprons helps to standardize, organize and simplify the inspection process, as well as the overall management of aprons within healthcare facilities," said Steve Porter, President of BurmedID.

Unlike other systems, assets are controlled from the moment of manufacture through the continuous use by the customer. It offers a unique inventory management and compliance solution to healthcare customers.

"ODIN has focused on developing RFID solutions with smart devices over the past year," said Ronan Wisdom, ODIN's COO. "Tablets are enabling RFID use in cases our customers could only dream of until very recently."
