esd electronic Introduces The First PCI Express CAN Interface

March 21, 2007 - esd electronics, Inc. announces that it has released the first PCI Express CAN Interface on the market. The CAN-PCIe/2000 is a low-cost CAN interface board for PCI Express with one or two CAN channels. Using two CAN channels allows access to two independent CAN networks, which may run at different baud rates. This allows one network to handle high-priority tasks while the other manages non-critical operations.

The interface is 100% compliant with ISO 11898 and CAN 2.0B. Software drivers are available for Windows, Linux and QNX; drivers for other operating systems are available upon request.

As with all of esd electronics' CAN interfaces, the CAN-PCIe/2000 includes a complete opto-isolation (high-speed opto-couplers plus DC/DC converters) as a standard. Opto-isolation increases the reliability of the CAN node. It also protects the CAN board from voltage surges and other electrical interference.

The new PCI Express Interface comes with a free CAN monitoring and analyzing software tool plus an extensive programming interface (API). All information, including a complete data sheet, can be found at http://esd-newsletter.com.

esd electronics, Inc., offers a variety of CAN interface boards compatible to the CAN 2.0B standard (ISO 11898). The CAN interfaces are designed to the highest industrial standards, and are backed with a two-year warranty. For more information about esd's capabilities or the CAN-PCIe/2000 Interface Board, please contact esd electronics, Inc., 525 Bernardston Road, Suite 1, Greenfield, MA 01301, phone 413-772-3170, fax 413-772-3171, e-mail us-sales@esd-electronics.com, or go directly our website at www.esd-electronics.us.
