Integrated Micro Valves increase actuation speed by 100%.
March 14, 2011 -
Compact valve box directly attaches to PGN-plus gripper and helps increase actuation speed by up to 100% while simultaneously reducing compressed air consumption and energy expenditure. With valve box VB, piston area of actuator is immediately filled. This reduces air consumption and shortens cycle times. Provided with air and electrical signals through central connections, product can be commissioned at actuator with gripping force maintenance devices, throttles, or proximity switches.

Increasing Actuation Speed by 100% with Valve Box
Highly integrated micro valves have the best potential for achieving high performance in handling. SCHUNK now offers a compact valve box, which is directly attached to the PGN-plus gripper and helps to increase actuation speed by up to 100%.
At the same time, the valve box reduces the compressed air consumption and in turn reduces energy costs. In case of a conventional pneumatic solution, the compressed air of the feeding long air supply line is lost at each cycle. With the valve box VB, which is directly attached to the gripper, the piston area of the actuator is immediately filled, resulting in reduced air consumption, and shorter cycle times. The compact unit is provided with air and electrical signals through central connections. Long air supply lines are no longer necessary.
By plug & play, the valve box with optimized size can be easily commissioned at the actuator with gripping force maintenance devices, throttles, or proximity switches. Sizes for the PGN-plus universal grippers are available from 64 to 160.
Your added value
Lower system costs as a result of lower compressed air consumption
Maximized efficiency of the drive energy used
Greater system productivity due to reduced cycle times
Plug & Play makes commissioning easier than ever
