Simrad GB40 Integrated Helm Solution Adds Advanced Weather Capability

Powerful Navigation & Entertainment System Now Features Satellite Weather Via Navico's SIRIUS® Weather Module

Nashua, N.H. - Simrad-Yachting, a leader in the design and manufacture of world-class marine navigation, auto steering, safety, communications and fishfinding systems, announced today the availability of advanced SIRIUS® satellite weather capabilities on its GB40 integrated helm solution. With the Navico Weather Module, vivid, up-to-date SIRIUS marine weather information is displayed on the GB40 over detailed, high-resolution navigation charts. The highly reliable GB40 delivers professional-grade power and functionality to boaters, and when combined with the optional weather module, provides WSI NOWrad® weather radar, lightning strikes, buoy reports, NOAA marine zone forecasts, storm tracks, watches and warnings, weather, wind and wave forecasts, barometric pressure, sea surface temps and more. The GB40 with the Navico SIRIUS Weather Module provides boaters with exceptional situational awareness, safety at sea and added peace of mind.

SIRIUS marine weather enhances the GB40 system's already unprecedented versatility. Specially engineered for vessels in the 35- to 75-foot range, the modular design of the GB40 allows boaters to create the best system for their vessel and individual navigation requirements. At the heart of the GB40 is a compact and powerful below-dash NavComputer preinstalled with global C-Map MAX Pro cartography including free access to world chart-level data. The Simrad GB40 GPS chartplotter offers plug-and-play NMEA-2000® compatibility and data sharing over the system's SimNet network. Other expansion capabilities include a high-power dual-frequency echosounder with automatic setting of 600W or 1kW output for the transducer, a range of professional Simrad HD radar solutions; and the Simrad AI50 Class B Automatic Identification System (AIS) transponder. Supporting up to three screens, two DVI displays and one VGA monitor can be connected directly to each GB40 NavComputer. Further enhancing the flexibility of the system, networked GB40 NavComputers can be added for multi-screen operation and individual screen data presentation.

"The addition of SIRIUS marine weather capability to our powerful GB40 navigation and entertainment solution enhances the unparalleled performance and versatility of our system," said Paul Comyns, director of marketing - B&G, Northstar & Simrad brands, Navico. "We are pleased to continue to add capabilities that increase boaters' on-the-water awareness, improve safety and contribute to a more worry-free boating experience."
