Sandvik Coromant Introduces GC4205 Insert Grade for Steel Turning

Fair Lawn, New Jersey, April 7, 2008 - To complete its New Insert Generation, Sandvik Coromant has introduced GC4205. The new insert grade is designed to provide increased speeds, high metal removal rates and process stability in steel turning applications.

GC4205 offers an extended performance range, from roughing to medium- and semi-finishing and excels in applications where high cutting temperatures are generated. The insert grade provides a new option for turning hard materials (HB>270). The advances made by GC4205 allow cutting speeds of greater than 800 ft./min., high metal removal rates and extended time in the cut. When used in applications with high cutting data, GC4205 produces up to 30% more parts than previous grades, due to improved crater wear and plastic deformation resistance.
