MacDermid Autotype Adds New Version of Printable Film

Antimicrobial Properties Make it Ideal for Medical, Foodservice, Hospitality Industry Uses

SCHAUMBURG, Illinois, February 6, 2007 - MacDermid Autotype has introduced a new version of its SIGMAGraF inkjet printable film that combines Microban® antimicrobial product protection with a tough textured surface. Microban protection inhibits the growth of odor and stain causing bacteria on the product surface. New SIGMAGraF UVjet AM is ideal for graphics on walls, doors, floors and other surfaces in hospitals, medical centers, restaurants, clubs, cruise ships and high traffic areas, according to Neil Bolding, MacDermid Autotype business support manager.

"Microban® product protection is embedded evenly within the product's hardcoat structure, so that its antimicrobial properties last for the working life of the film," he explained. "This enables it to be used in areas requiring protection from some of the most commonly occurring odor and stain causing bacteria. Its scratch- and abrasion-resistant, anti-slip hardcoat can be cleaned with conventional detergents and solvents."

SIGMAGraF UVjet AM's stable ink primer layer produces excellent color rendition and image resolution. Its UV-cured, hardcoat surface is chemically bonded onto a high quality, dimensionally stable, polyester base layer, while its reverse side is primed for use with all UV-cured digital inks. It is designed to maintain high levels of ink adhesion without cracking or pulling apart, even if the surface is bent or used in high heat or humidity settings.

SIGMAGraF UVjet AM can be laminated to a variety of substrates, including MacDermid Autotype's Backstop white opaque backing films for graphic displays and pop-ups; semi-permanent adhesives for floor graphics; or permanent adhesives for signs or decorative surfaces.
