Thin-Wall Part Molding Fully Achievable With Mitsubishi's New MEII Series Electric Injection Molding Machine

ADDISON, IL - (September 15, 2004) Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' new MEII Series electric injection molding machine instantly reaches maximum injection speeds to accurately mold thin-wall and fine-precision parts. With this capability, the MEII Series is destined to present manufacturers with new molding opportunities and higher profit potentials.

A belt-less electric injection drive servomotor is behind the superior performance of the MEII Series. Direct drive injection and a newly developed synchronous control enable high-speed performance. Because servomotors are connected directly to the MEII's ball screws, the need for drive belts and pulleys are eliminated. The servomotor is also responsible for effectively reducing defect ratios and molding cycles. Dry cycle times have been decreased by 25% compared to Mitsubishi's previous ME model, and platen deflection is 25% less through the use of computer analysis. Furthermore, the energy consumption of the MEII is reduced by more than 60% compared with fully hydraulic machines.

For manufacturers requiring a hydraulic process option, including core and valve gate applications, the MEII is also equipped with a space-saving "on-board" hydraulic power unit. Easy to maintain, it allows for the simple adjustment of nozzle force and the power swivel of the injection unit.

Further contributing to the MEII's high-speed operation is the latest generation MAC-VIII controller. This award-wining controller is outfitted with Mitsubishi's newest high-speed MIU2000 process control board.

A number of options are available for the MEII. Along with the high performance Mitsubishi UB screw (standard), the company offers optional MD-UB and MF-UB screws for a higher level of mixing performance. An optional injection compression circuit is effective for cloth molding and the elimination of warping. An available foam injection core back circuit allows for the high quality molding of foamed products, while a two-material molding option provides secondary injection capacities of 5 and 10 ounces.

The MEII is available in 350 and 450 metric ton models with a wide variety of injection unit sizes to meet a range of requirements.
