Axis Launches Indoor Network Camera with Power over Ethernet, Bidirectional Audio



LUND, Sweden - (Sept. 12, 2005) - Axis Communications, the global leader in the network video market, announced today the AXIS 210A Network Camera with built-in Power over Ethernet (PoE) and bidirectional audio. The AXIS 210A is a professional network camera designed for indoor surveillance and remote monitoring applications. It is ideal for securing facilities where two-way audio is needed to communicate with visitors or intruders.

Because it comes with PoE, the AXIS 210A simplifies the installation process with video, audio and power supplied through a single Ethernet cable. The camera also has a built-in microphone and connections for both an external microphone and speakers. The AXIS 210A provides the best image quality in its class with indoor lighting conditions, and includes a progressive scan CCD sensor and powerful real time image processing hardware. This gives users full frame rate (30 frames a second) even at VGA resolution.

The AXIS 210A utilizes simultaneous Motion JPEG and advanced MPEG-4 video streams so that systems can be configured to optimize both image quality and bandwidth efficiency. Additional functions include video motion detection, pre- and post-alarm buffers, notification options, privacy masking and input/output for connecting external devices such as sensors and relays. The AXIS 210A also has IP address filtering and offers multiple access levels for video management and security. It supports Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) standards and includes flash memory provides ability to upload embedded applications.

The AXIS 210A will be available from September 12th, 2005 through Axis' distribution channels.
