New ATEX Encoder Sendix 7000 Now with IECEx Certification

Explosion protection is the first step in workplace safety for any industry. The mining, chemical or oil production are just a few industries that demand the best protection possible for their employees. Measuring and positioning devices must meet the strictest international protection standards.

WIth the new incremental Sendix 7000 encoders with ATEX and IECEx certification, Kübler rounds out its robust ATEX encoder family. When used in compliance with its intended protection level, this product range significantly reduces an existing explosion hazard.

The IECEx certified Sendix family has a wide range of safety features. With their Safety-Lock™, flameproof housing design, they are approved throughout Europe for ATEX zones 1, 2, 21 and 22. Now with their recent IECEx approval, there are no longer any obstacles for a worldwide use. Like ATEX, IECEx assesses a products compliance with the highest international safety standards to ensure that the equipment and systems used in explosive atmospheres offer the best level of protection.

Another important safety feature is their IP 67 rating. The Sendix 70xx series has a shock and vibration proof housing. The aluminium construction makes it seawater resistant, and ideal for offshore use. They offer up to 5000 ppr and, thanks to their wide temperature range of -40°F to 140°F, they ensure total relaibility even in the harshest conditions. Their compact construction, with an installation depth of only 145 mm, diameter of 70 mm and a space-saving cable outlet completes the numerous and flexible possibilities of use in areas subject to explosion hazards.

As an absolute multiturn or singleturn encoder, this series features both SSI and field bus interfaces. The Sendix ATEX family also has encoders with SIL2 and SIL3 certification, including available MTTFd values that make calculations according to EN 61800-5-2 und EN ISO 13849-1 easier. With it’s ATEX, IECEx, and IP certifications, the Kübler Sendix 70xx encoder family will successfully meet the increasingly demanding market challenges.
