Omron's High-Speed, High Resolution VT-S700 In-Line AOI System Improves Post-Solder Image Accuracy Using a New Telecentric Lens
SCHAUMBURG, IL (March 2009) - The new VT-S700 in-line AOI system from Omron Electronics LLC (www.omron247.com) is designed to improve soldered component inspection accuracy and increase throughput by shortening tact time with an expanded field of view. By using a telecentric lens with a 2-megapixel camera the VT-S700 reduces image distortion and improves inspection accuracy at the edges of its large field of view. The system delivers high resolution inspection of up to 10 microns for components as small as 01005 and down to a 12 mil pitch.
The VT-S700 uses Omron's patented three-color highlight system that illuminates the printed circuit board in a 360-degree dome. The 3-CCD camera used in the system enhances solder shape recognition accuracy by obtaining three times the information of a conventional camera, delivering robust inspection results.
Other features of the VT-S700 include color enhancing capability to more accurately identify lead-free solder joints, auto-teaching modes to automatically extract components based on model pattern data, integrated graphical user interface, and logic customization allowing the system to adapt to future changes in component shapes and solder types. Optical character verification (OCV) capability is available to enhance component inspection. Resolution can be selected for 10, 15 or 20 microns. Separate models are available to handle 10 x 13 inch and 18 x 20 inch boards.
