July 2, 2007 - Phosdecor(TM) Fluorescent Phosphoprotein In-Gel Detection Kit identifies Phosphoprotein changes that can indicate many cell signaling processes, cancer, and obesity. It includes phosphate specific PhosDecor Stain, specially formulated buffers, and positive control to validate system performance. Interaction of stain with protein-bound phosphate groups results in selective chemiluminescence detectable with commonly available instruments.

Sigma-Aldrich Launches Phosdecor(TM) Fluorescent Phosphoprotein In-Gel Detection Kit

Effective screening is top priority in biomarker discovery community

ST. LOUIS, June 7 // -- Sigma-Aldrich (NASDAQ:SIAL) proudly announces the launch of the PhosDecor(TM) Fluorescent Phosphoprotein In-Gel Detection Kit, a highly sensitive and selective tool for the identification of phosphorylated proteins.

Phosphoprotein changes are implicated in many cell signaling processes, cancer and obesity. Up to 30% of the human proteome may be phosphorylated at any time, and effective electrophoretic screening of phosphoproteins in complex protein samples is a top priority in the biomarker discovery community. Samples including biofluids and tissue extracts can be analyzed and subjected to further proteomic characterization, significantly improving the understanding of how kinome changes occur and what proteins are affected.

The PhosDecor kit includes a phosphate specific PhosDecor Stain, specially formulated buffers and a positive control to validate system performance. Interaction of the PhosDecor stain with protein-bound phosphate groups results in a selective chemiluminescence detectable with commonly available instruments. Some components are also available separately allowing for custom applications.
