Coreco Imaging Introduces New Acquisition Boards for PCI-X Bus

Coreco Imaging Introduces the X64-AN Quad Frame Grabber

New Image Acquisition Board for Multi-view Machine Vision Inspection Systems

MONTREAL, QUEBEC (October 18, 2004) - Coreco, Inc. (TSX: CRC), a leading developer of high-performance machine vision components and services, today announced the availability of the X64-AN Quadâ„¢, a high performance image acquisition board that interfaces with up to four independent analog cameras providing an ideal solution for high-speed multiple-view machine vision applications. PCI-X compatible, the X64-AN Quad is an extension to Coreco Imaging's X64 Series of frame grabbers.

Driven by the need to integrate vision automation with multiple view inspection, the X64-AN Quad replaces the need for additional hardware by providing concurrent image acquisition from multiple, independent standard or progressive scan analog cameras at a fraction of the cost. The X64-AN Quad's feature set provides OEMs and system integrators with a cost-sensitive solution for developing a variety of real-time applications where acquisition of multiple views are required.

"Successful industrial machine vision applications require consistent and predictable results in demanding operating environments. The X64-AN Quad has the most flexible front-end in the industry for interfacing to standard and high-speed custom analog cameras, making 100% defect inspection now more reliable and affordable," states Inder Kohli, Product Line Manager, Coreco Imaging.

Key Features

Key features of the X64-AN Quad include:

· Acquisition from up to four cameras for multiple-view inspection

· Support for multiple high-frame rate, high-resolution (mega-pixel) cameras

· Dedicated on-board frame buffer memory for improved reliability

· Support for Trigger-to-Image Reliability framework

The X64-AN Quad provides local image storage and the capability to extract area of interest to streamline image processing. The dedicated I/Os and timer/counter features allow reliable object tracking through various processing stages. In addition, it incorporates a fault-tolerant image synchronization design, enabling it to automatically detect, report, and recover from a lost camera signal to ensure the reliability of all imaging sequences.

Similar to other image acquisition boards in the X64 Series, the X64-AN Quad has been engineered within Coreco Imaging's Trigger-to-Image Reliability framework to ensure highly reliable and efficient acquisition control throughout the entire image capture sequence. This exacting technology framework leverages Coreco Imaging's hardware and software innovations to control and monitor the image acquisition process, from the time that an external trigger event occurs to the moment the data is transmitted to the PCI bus.

Software Support

The X64-AN Quad is supported by Coreco Imaging's Saperaâ„¢ LT software for acquisition and control and Sapera Processing software for image processing and analysis, enabling X64-AN Quad applications to be developed for Windows® 2000 and Windows® XP. In addition, Sapera Processing includes a suite of optimized tools, also available as standalone, for pattern matching, OCR, blob analysis and barcode decoding. Sapera LT and Sapera Processing work together to simplify vision application development.

The X64-AN Quad is priced at $1,500 in OEM quantities and is available immediately.
