IR Receivers suit noisy environments and short burst codes.

Press Release Summary:

Available in 5 series and 3 pin configurations, AGC3 IR Receivers offer resistance to ESD, shielding against EMI, and immunity against ambient light, making them suited for remote control, data transmission, and light barrier applications. Units include photo detector and preamplifier circuit, mounted within 3-pin epoxy-encapsulated module. Specified for operation from 2.5-5.5 V with transmission range of 45 m, RoHS-compliant modules consume 0.35 mA and feature carrier frequency of 30-56 kHz.

Vishay Releases Five New Series of High-Sensitivity AGC3 IR Receivers.....

Optimized for Noisy Environments and Short Burst Codes

Devices Offer a 2.5-V to 5.5-V Supply Voltage Range and Low Power Consumption of 0.35 mA in Three Industry-Standard PIN Configurations

MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA January 30, 2008 In a move to minimize the impact of fluorescent lamps (CFLs) and other disturbance signals on IR remote control systems, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced the release of five new series of high-sensitivity IR receivers. As AGC3 devices, the receivers are optimized for noisy environments and short burst codes.

One of the leading sources of environmental optical noise is compact fluorescent lamps, which emit noise signals that resemble IR remote control signals, severely impacting the performance of IR systems.

To help minimize this impact, Vishay has released the new TSOP313.., TSOP323.., TSOP343.., TSOP383.., and TSOP393.. series of ultra-noise-resistant AGC3 IR remote control receivers. The devices provide extreme robustness against all disturbance signals and better suppress spurious pulses from energy-saving fluorescent lamps.

With a higher resistance to ESD, improved shielding against EMI, and improved immunity against ambient light, the IR receivers are optimized for remote control, data transmission, and light barrier applications in TV sets, cable boxes, satellite receiver boxes, DVD players, audio systems, air conditioners, and toys.

Each receiver includes a photo detector and preamplifier circuit, mounted within a 3-pin epoxy-encapsulated module that acts as an IR filter for improved PCM frequency. Three industry-standard pin configurations are available, with minimum irradiances of 0.1 mW/m2 and 0.15 mW/m2.

The new devices are specified for operation from 2.5V to 5.5V with a transmission range of 45 meters. The modules feature a carrier frequency range 30kHz to 56kHz, offer a low 0.35-mA supply current, and comply with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC.

Samples and production quantities of the new IR receivers are available now, with lead times of six weeks for large orders. Pricing for U.S. delivery only is $1.00/each in small quantities.
