IR Equilateral Prisms are offered with 3 substrate options.

Press Release Summary:

Used for wavelength-separation applications, Infrared Equilateral Prisms with Calcium Fluoride substrate feature 1.434 index and transmission properties from 350 nm to 7 µm. Germanium versions are suitable for applications in 3-12 µm region where optical path length needs to be maximized. With transmission from 1-16 µm, prisms with Zinc Selenide substrate are commonly used with CO2 laser applications. Total beam deviation and wavelength separation is dependent on refractive index.

Infrared (IR) Equilateral Prisms

o Calcium Fluoride, Germanium, and Zinc Selenide Substrates

o Used for Light Dispersion

Our infrared Equilateral Prisms are available in 3 substrate options. Calcium Fluoride is a low index (1.434) material with excellent transmission properties from 350nm - 7µm, making it ideal for applications throughout the UV, Visible, and Infrared spectra. Germanium is a dense material with a high index (n10.6µm = 4.0034), making it ideal for applications in the 3 - 12µm region where the optical path length needs to be maximized. Zinc Selenide (n10.6µm = 2.4028) is commonly used with CO2 laser applications, and features high transmission from 1-16µm.

Equilateral prisms are used for wavelength-separation applications. Incoming light is refracted twice while passing through the prisms. Total beam deviation, and wavelength separation, is dependent on the material's refractive index.
