Raritan Unveils Industry's First IP KVM Switch with 1080P HD Video Streaming Quality

-- Fast, secure, and reliable BIOS-level access and control of equipment in data centers, labs, branch offices and broadcast rooms --

SOMERSET, N.J. -- Raritan today introduced the Dominion® KX III, the company's next-generation KVM-over-IP switch that delivers the highest video performance in the industry to better support equipment in data centers, labs, server rooms, broadcast production rooms and branch offices.

The KX III's new hardware architecture, more powerful CPU and enhanced video compression algorithms contribute to a high-performance remote video experience, so that work can be done remotely from anywhere in the world -- improving efficiency and eliminating trips to equipment rooms.  The enhancements also are designed to support video- and audio-intensive applications important to Broadcast, Media, and Entertainment industries.

The KX III's next-generation video processing engine supports not only traditional remote server administration applications, but also dynamic broadcast applications that require 1920x1080 resolution, 24-bit color, digital audio, and dual monitors.  Plus, the KX III's streaming video capabilities enable a 1080p movie (with audio) to be viewed at 30 frames per second over an IP network.

KX III next-generation video processing capabilities support multiple industries:

--  Broadcasting uses, such as reviewing HD (high definition) videos, animations, images and digital audio.

--  Government, military and security organizations that need to view and interact with streaming video and other dynamic applications.

--  Financial, scientific, transportation, industrial and utility firms using dynamic and video-intensive applications.

A longstanding Raritan customer, for example, plans to use the KX III in a new server room to review and load videos, high-resolution graphics (1920x1080) and animations for public-viewing screens throughout the financial firm's building.  Users will be able to connect and work on multiple servers simultaneously -- with each session in a separate window.

"In the past, expensive and inflexible systems were the only solutions available for applications that require remote viewing of HD video and audio.  You had to go to the equipment in order to access it," said Richard Dominach, Senior Product Manager at Raritan.  "The KX III uniquely provides remote IP access to both general server administration and dynamic applications that use video and audio.  As a result, productivity improves."

About Dominion KX III

A productivity boost to IT operations throughout the world, the Dominion KX III enterprise-class, KVM-over-IP switch enables multiple IT administrators -- both remote and local users -- to access and control multiple servers.  The new switch provides 1, 2, 4 or 8 users with remote control of 8 to 64 servers; and, with Raritan's CommandCenter Secure Gateway, customers can connect to hundreds of servers via a single IP address.  With BIOS-level access, servers are always accessible -- even if a server's operating system is not working.

By using the KX III's Universal Virtual Media, administrators also can remotely install software, transfer files, backup data and perform diagnostics.  Power to servers can be controlled with Raritan's PX line of remote power distribution units.

The KX III provides the industry's best HD remote video resolution (1920 x1080 pixels), a DVI-based digital local port for at-the-rack access, and multi-monitor support.  Unlike other enterprise KVM-over-IP switches that only support analog video, the Dominion KX III supports both analog (VGA) and digital video (DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort).  The Dominion KX III includes security features such as a FIPS 140-2 certified cryptographic module, smart-card/CAC authentication, and IPv6. And with dual power supplies and dual gigabit Ethernet ports, the Dominion KX III is the most reliable and secure digital KVM switch in the industry.

Dominion KX III will be available this month. For more information, visit http://www.raritan.com/products/kvm-over-ip/dominion-kx-iii/
