February 3, 2009 - Hybrid resin RH-6675 is used when cold crack, flex, and print retention properties are required on leather. It features high mechanical stability, allowing for application via roller coat or flow coat machines, and ensuring resistance to print cut-through during high-temperature printing. Aliphatic polyurethane/acrylic dispersion is TEA and formaldehyde free, has low VOCs, and contains no volatile amines. Resulting film is low tack when dry.

Unique New Generation Hybrid Resin from Stahl

The announcement of a new generation hybrid resin, RH-6675, based on Stahl's unique hybrid technology, is an important development specifically for finishing wherever enhanced cold crack, flex and print retention properties are required on leather. RH-6675 can be used universally as the principal component in base coat formulations for splits and upholstery leathers and both full and corrected grain leathers used for shoes and leathergoods.

High mechanical stability means that it is well-suited for application using either roller coat or flow coat machines. This also means that there is superior resistance to print cut through during high temperature printing.

From an environmental point of view, this new hybrid resin is important because it is an aliphatic polyurethane/acrylic dispersion which is able to deliver its high performance properties while still being TEA-free. The product is also low VOC, formaldehyde free and contains no volatile amines.

When dry, the resulting film is a low tack which provides this hybrid resin highly with very good application properties making it suitable for use in high performance finishes.

The new RH-6675 is being marketed to the leather industries in many countries across the world. Availability will therefore be almost global. Customers are encouraged to make enquiries with local Stahl technical staff concerning its use in their particular area and the benefits that that they will be able to achieve.
