Safe And Eco-Friendly Way To Repair Knots And Damaged Wood From Power Adhesives Reduces Waste And Lowers Cost

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- An eco-friendly, green wood repair system that is safe to use, is non-flammable, utilizes no harsh solvents and minimizes waste is now available from Power Adhesives.

The KNOT-TEC(TM) Wood Repair System from Power Adhesives, the most cost effective and safest system on the market today, assures fast and easy repairs of knots and different types of damaged wood. Instead of cutting the faulty material from the board and not using it, manufacturers of such products as windows, doors and furniture can now repair knots and fill wooden surfaces so that the wood is smooth and blemishes are hardly noticeable before painting or finishing. The result is lower operating cost and less environmental waste.

Product Detailed

The Power Adhesives KNOT-TEC(TM) Wood Repair System Starter Kit consists of a TEC(TM) 250 high temperature hot melt adhesive applicator, a silicon release mat, two metal sink blocks and an instructional DVD. Three TECBOND(TM) 7718 glue sticks each in black, light beige, amber and cola are included in the kit to match any color wood. Contents come packed in a sturdy, easy to carry metal case and have a suggested retail price of $107. When ordering refills, extra glue is available in 10-stick packs or in 22-pound bulk packages.

"Everything necessary for a manufacturer to successfully begin repairing damaged wood surfaces fast and easily is included in the Starter Kit," explained Lee Stegall, Director of Sales for Power Adhesives. "Knots and surface defects are repaired in seconds. Application is quick and easy with no training required. The kit allows you to try the four colors on different types of wood and saves you money by buying the pieces together rather than separately."

Comfortable to handle and easy to use with a full-hand lever trigger, the TEC(TM) 250 glue gun is a perfect fit for all hand sizes. The efficient heater housing allows the glue gun to reach operating temperature of 380º F in only five minutes. An optional freestanding metal stand is available with the TEC(TM) 250 gun for convenience.

Next, the color of the TECBOND(TM) 7718/12 polyamide hot melt glue sticks should be match to the wood type. Four colors -- amber, beige, black or cola - match most wood types. The ½ in. diameter glue sticks are specifically formulated for use on wood exposed to high and low temperature changes. A total of 12 sticks, three of each color, come in the starter kit.

After filling the wood or knot with the molten adhesive, one of the heat sink blocks are placed over the area being repaired. The heat sink block pushes the adhesive into the area being filled and forms a flat smooth finish on the board surface.

Additionally, the stainless steel block rapidly transfers the heat from the adhesives allowing it to set almost instantly. Any surplus glue is then easily removed with a chisel or a cutting tool. After removal, the wood surface can be treated or painted as normal.
