May 3, 2006 - Smart-Hose(TM) Safety System automatically shuts off flow in both directions instantly if hose failure takes place. Assembly connects coated cable within hose bore to valve plungers, wedges, or flappers at hose end points. Acting as compression spring, cable will hold valves open when conditions are normal. As soon as thrust is eliminated due to coupling ejection, hose stretching, or hose separation, both valves seat themselves, stopping all flow.

World's Safest Hose Assembly Eliminates Hazards of Coupling Ejection, Stretching, and Separation

Philadelphia, PA (March 23, 2006) ~ Wherever hoses are used to move industrial fluids or gases, the potential for spills or catastrophic leaks is never more than seconds away. Now there's a unique hose assembly that protects companies and personnel by automatically shutting off flow in both directions the instant a hose failure takes place.

The Smart-Hose(TM) Safety System connects a coated cable within the hose bore to the valve plungers, wedges or flappers at hose end points. Acting as a compression spring this cable will hold valves open when conditions are normal. The instant thrust is eliminated due to coupling ejection, hose stretching or hose separation, both valves seat themselves, stopping all flow in either direction.

Chemical processing, offshore drilling, agriculture, petroleum refining, rail, highway or ocean-going transportation, pharmaceuticals, food processing - the list of industries which should have the safety back up of Smart-Hose technology in every hose assembly is long. Especially, since the cost of Smart Hose technology is not significantly higher than the cost of conventional hose assemblies offering no automatic shut-off.

Smart-Hose Technologies has received U.S. Department of Transportation exemption for railcar unloading, tank car loading and the governmental mandate requiring a passive device for the loading and unloading of compressed gas cargo tankers. Since introduction in 1994, over 300,000 Smart-Hose assemblies have been sold.
