New Double-Ridged Guide Horn Antenna from Schaffner Offers 18 GHz Frequency Range and Low VSWR for a Wide Range of RF/EMC Applications

Edison, NJ, February 2003 – A new double-ridged guide horn antenna that offers a frequency range of 1 - 18 GHz has been introduced by Schaffner EMC, Inc. The versatile BHA 9118 is a linearly polarized, broadband antenna ideal for a wide range applications, particularly RF and EMC measurements to MIL, SAE, IEEE, IEC and FCC standards.

The new BHA 9118 can be used for both receiving (emissions) and transmitting (immunity) in chambers or open area test sites (OATS). It incorporates a precision “N” connector that provides good power handling capability and low voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR). The antenna has a field strength capability of 250 V/m @ 1 m, and a high typical gain of 5.5 – 15 dBi.

The antenna design is rugged and corrosion-resistant. Protective strips on the two fiberglass sides of the unit prevent accidental damage and the other sides of the unit are solid aluminum. Additionally, a storage/carrying case comes standard with the BHA 9118 for added protection when storing or transporting the unit.

The antenna has a mounting bracket with a standard 1/4-inch camera thread hole to enable easy mounting on most tripods and simple adjustments for vertical, horizontal, and 45 polarizations.

Schaffner individually calibrates each BHA 9118 horn antenna to ANSI C63.5 standards and provides a calibration certificate that includes measured antenna factor data certifying precise antenna performance. Schaffner also provides a gain plot, traceable to national standards.

Pricing for the BHA 9118 starts at $3,200 per unit. Delivery is 3-4 weeks ARO.
