Featuring ½ in. plate construction with 1 x 4 in. thick reinforcement, Piranha® Closed Door Horizontal Baler provides 110 lb/in² ram face pressure. Machine can handle paper stock, secondary fiber, aluminum/steel cans, PET, and HDPE. In addition to hydraulic door actuator and serrated shear knife, baler has category 3 safety system on conveyor hopper access door. Access to hopper is protected by dual circuit magnetic safety switch and dual trapped key interlock system.

The New Piranha® from Harris
Peachtree City, GA, Oct 19, 2009: Harris announces the new redesigned Piranha closed door horizontal baler. A compact and ferocious machine that can handle any paper stock, secondary fiber, aluminum/steel cans, PET and HDPE you can throw at it. With a small footprint, the Piranha can fit in almost any location or facility and it is competitively priced.
Why do you need to purchase one of Harris' new Piranhas? This baler has ½" plate construction with 1"x 4" thick reinforcement. The single cylinder provides superior transmission of power to the ram. With 96 tons of compression force and 110 lbs/in² ram face pressure, it is the highest in its class. You will find replaceable 3/8" thick abrasion resistant AR 500 tongue and groove wear liners on the baler floor and base of the main ram for long life and minimum down time. It is heavier and stronger than its predecessor weighing an impressive 22,000 lbs. Standard equipment includes a hydraulic door actuator and a serrated shear knife. Optional above ground or in pit conveyors are available.
Safety is a major concern and the Harris Piranha has a category 3 safety system on the conveyor hopper access door. Access to the conveyor hopper is protected by a dual circuit magnetic safety switch and a dual "trapped" key interlock system. The integrity of the safety circuit is continuously checked by a safety monitoring relay. Magnetic safety interlock switches on the bale door and opening mechanism ensures that the door is fully open before the bale is ejected, and the hydraulic door actuator cylinder incorporates a check valve on exhaust port to prevent unintended extension of the cylinder.
