Hollow-Shaft Spindle features brushless dc motor.
November 29, 2004 - Hollow-Shaft Motorized Spindle utilizes 1,024-line, 2-channel encoder for precise control. Minute air gaps between shaft and spindle housing together with shaft run-outs held within 0.0003 in. permit vacuum to be established via spindle housing, and through hollow shaft without contact seals. Motor produces 5 oz-in. of torque at operating speed of 15,000 rpm within 2.20 in. OD x 3.18 in. L housing. Spindle is suited for medical, semiconductor, and industrial equipment.

New Ultra-Precise, Hollow-Shaft Motorized Spindle
Servo Magnetics Inc. - Canoga Park, CA; a high performance electric motor manufacturer, utilizes its precision machining capability to solve a unique problem in a new hollow-shaft brushless DC motorized spindle design. Minute air gaps between the shaft and spindle housing (0.0002 to 0.0004 inches) together with shaft run-outs held within 0.0003 inches permit a vacuum to be established via the spindle housing; and, in turn, through the hollow shaft without contact seals. The motor will produce 5 oz-in of torque at an operating speed of 15,000 rpm within its 2.20” O.D. X 3.18” L., housing. The motorized spindle as shown features a 1024 line, 2-channel with index encoder for precise control. This spindle is uniquely capable of addressing needs within medical and semiconductor manufacturing equipment as well as other specialized industrial equipment. Web site: www.servomag.com
