January 17, 2008 - Model WMA-01 with output noise of 0.8 mVrms in dc -20 kHz full power bandwidth and WMA-01LF with low pass filter capacitor that reduces bandwidth to 50 Hz and makes noise drop below 0.1 mVrms provide up to +125 and -125 V output voltage. At 100 x 50 x 26 mm, they include internal high-voltage generators that are inductor-free. Applications include MEMS devices, EO-modulators, PZT positioning systems, ferroelectric devices, and beam steering components.

Falco Systems Offers Unique Battery Powered High Voltage Amplifier

10-1-2008

Falco Systems now offers the WMA-01 and WMA-01LF, two high voltage amplifiers that run from a low voltage power supply and provide up to +125V and -125V output voltage. Unique is that both amplifiers can be battery powered if required, e.g. for use in a Faraday cage, and that their size is only 100x50x26 mm.

The internal high voltage generators are inductor-free and hence doe not spread magnetic interference in sensitive experimental setups. Combined with their large voltage range, this make the amplifiers an excellent choice for use in arrange of applications, such as MEMS devices, EO-modulators, PZT (piezo) positioning systems, ferroelectric devices and beam steering components.

The output noise of the WMA-01 is impressively low, at only 0.8mVrms in the DC - 20kHz full power bandwidth. For even lower noise applications where bandwidth is not an issue, the WMA-01LF amplifier contains an output low pass filter capacitor. This reduces the bandwidth to 50Hz, but makes the noise drop below 0.1mVrms. The bandwidth-limited WMA-01LF is ideal for MEMS or piezo positioning with manual voltage adjustment requiring extremely low noise.

Falco Systems manufactures measurement electronics for MEMS research. The company website can be found at www.falco-systems.com. For more information on the WMA-01 and WMA-01LF high voltage amplifiers and other products, please contact Dr. Ir. Merlijn van Spengen, vspengen@falco-systems.com.
