Valley Cottage, NY - July 27, 2007

SUMMARY

Pyro-Paint(TM) 634-AS-1, a new high temperature, alumina-silica filled coating developed by Aremco Products, Inc., is now used to bond and coat heating elements into infrared heaters used in applications to 2300 °F (1260 °C).

FEATURES

Pyro-Paint(TM) 634-AS-1 is an alumina-silica based, fiber-reinforced, ceramic coating system used to bond, coat and seal refractory fiberboard used in the construction of infrared heaters and molten metal handling components in foundry applications to 2300 °F (1260 °C). A new application for Pyro-Paint(TM) 634-AS-1 is in the construction of infrared heaters; it is used to encapsulate and secure heating elements and ceramic cloth to refractory boards.

Pyro-Paint(TM) 634-AS-1 is rated for temperatures up to 2300 °F (1260 °C) and exhibits exceptional adhesion to refractory fiberboard, graphite and ceramic cloth and paper. Pyro-Paint(TM) is resistant to wetting by non-ferrous molten metals, thus increasing the durability of the underlying refractory structure.

Pyro-Paint(TM) 634-AS-1 is formulated with a solids content of 77.0% by weight and 70.0% by volume to a viscosity of 14,000 cP. It is typically applied by brush, roller or conventional spray equipment. Dry films from 2-3 mils up to 3/8" can be produced without cracking.

Pyro-Paint(TM) 634-AS-1 is a simple to use, environmentally friendly, water-based formulation containing no volatile organic compounds. It dries at room temperature in several hours and cures fully within 2 hours at 200 °F.

Pyro-Paint(TM) 634-AS-1 is part of a line of refractory coatings based on ceramic fillers including boron nitride, carbon, graphite, yttrium oxide, and zirconium oxide. For complete details about Pyro-Painttm, please contact Aremco's Technical Sales Department.
