June 22, 2011 - With frequency range of 4.7-4,000 Hz ±5%, EX600B13 and EX600B14 are suited for measuring vibration in gas turbines. Components include side-exit charge mode sensor; 10 ft, hermetically sealed, hard-line cable; and ICP® charge amplifier. Able to withstand environments up to +900°F, CSA-approved products employ sensing element insensitive to base strains, thermal transients, and pyroelectric effects. Design eliminates contamination and common mode noise concerns.

IMI Sensors Receives CSA Approval for High Temperature Accelerometer

Application specific solutions for Gas Turbine Monitoring.

Depew, NY - IMI Sensors, a division of PCB Piezotronics, Inc., announces the CSA approval of high temperature accelerometer models EX600B13 and EX600B14 for vibration measurement in gas turbines. These high temperature accelerometers include a side-exit charge mode sensor, a 10-foot integral hermetically sealed hard-line cable and an integral ICP® charge amplifier. Possible power generation monitoring applications include placement on turbines, exhaust systems and piping in extreme heat environments up to +900°F/+482°C.

This new certification contains the following approvals:
Ex ia IIC / AEx ia IIC: Class I, Zone 0:
Class I, Div. 1, Groups A, B, C and D; Class II, Div. 1, Groups E, F and G; Class III, Div. 1:
Ex nA IIC / AEx nA IIC: Class I, Zone 2:
Class I, Div. 2, Groups A, B, C and D:

The new unique sensing element of these accelerometers provides significantly improved performance that is insensitive to base strains, thermal transients and pyroelectric effects. By incorporating an integral sensor, a cable and a charge amplifier in a single high-temperature sensor chain, gas turbine operators have a complete measuring chain that eliminates contamination and common mode noise concerns. The integral ICP® charge amplifier integrates with standard data acquisition equipment.

Sensor models EX600B13 and EX600B14 are designed as drop-in replacements for existing accelerometers with ARINC® three-point mounting bases, and have a higher temperature range than many competing sensor types. Model EX600B13 has 100 mV/g (10.2 mV/(m/s²)) sensitivity and model EX600B14 has 10 mV/g (1.02 mV/(m/s²))sensitivity. The wide frequency range of (±5%) 4.7 to 4000 Hz (282 to 240000 cpm), makes them ideal for the measurement of gas turbine vibration.
