Protex Launches Three New High Strength Latches

New 43 and 44 series products are ideal for agricultural, industrial, earthmoving and process equipment sector applications

Redditch-based Protex Fasteners Ltd has extended its range of heavy duty over-centre latches with the introduction of three new products for high strength re-sealable fastening applications.

Featuring all-riveted mounting baseplates that enable assembly loads to be distributed over a large bearing area, Protex 43-3292, 43-4292 and 44-4292 latches are ideal for use in the agricultural, industrial, earth moving and process equipment sectors.

The new fasteners are fully compatible with Protex 40 and 41 series latches and are offered in stainless or zinc plated mild steel - achieving ultimate tensile strengths of 2000 and 2500 kgf respectively with type 04-4292 catchplates. All models provide up to 20 mm of grip range adjustment as standard and can be sealed using lock wire or self-retaining pins.

Both new 43 series products can be padlocked for added security, while the 44-4292 is fitted with a patented, side-action catch that locks automatically when the latch is closed.

Application versatility is further increased on 43-4292 and 44-4292 models through an optional 150 mm long eyebolt, which increases the grip range adjustment of each product to 60 mm.

"These three new fasteners reflect continuous improvements to our manufacturing processes" said Protex's engineering director, Norman Evans. "The elimination of welded assembly, for example, ensures closer control of mechanical performance, as well as improved appearance and more consistent plating quality."

Details of all three new latches, along with instant access to more than 350 standard range products for light, medium and heavy duty applications, can be found on Protex's recently-updated website: www.protex.com. The site also provides information on the company's CatchBolt, ProLatch, Bandclamp, case fittings, handles and Flushlatch fastener ranges. In addition, visitors can download AutoCAD compatible 2D drawings or 3D product models in native SolidWorks, STEP, IGES and E-drawing formats, for immediate inclusion in their own designs.
