New Sundyne High-Pressure Pump Engineered for Large-Scale Chemical Production
ARVADA, Colo., --Sundyne Corp., a subsidiary of Hamilton Sundstrand, recently shipped three new HMP 7000 high-pressure integrally geared centrifugal pumps engineered specifically for installation in a modern petrochemical plant. Hamilton Sundstrand is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
The new Sundyne HMP 7000 pump extends the HMP product line hydraulic envelope with flows up to 1,585 gpm (360 m3/hr) in order to meet the expanded production needs of large, new refineries, chemical and petrochemical plants. Sundyne HMP models are integrally-geared multi-stage centrifugal pumps that use proven reliable technology to generate up to 14,500 feet (4,500 meters) of head for petrochemical manufacturing applications such as PTA (Purified Terepthalic Acid) used to make specialty plastics that require extremely high production pressures.
"We worked very closely with the customer to develop a new high-pressure pump that more than doubles the flows of our reliable standard HMP pump model to meet their expanding production needs," stated Jeff Wiemelt, vice president and general manager of Sundyne.
Sundyne HMP pumps have been worldwide demand for use in fertilizer, plastics and hydrocarbon production since 1967. The new HMP 7000 offers proven heavy-duty pump design available with one to four stages on a single gearbox, motor sizes up to 2500 HP, a small footprint, a new cartridge seal design and low NPSH on the first stage.
"It was great to watch the first HMP 7000 skids roll out of the factory door knowing that they will be employed to make products that people will use every day," said John Sidelko, principal engineer at Sundyne.
The new HMP 7000 uses the same proven reliable technology as the Sundyne HMP multi-stage centrifugal pump models 3000 and 5000. Sundyne HMP centrifugal integrally geared multi-stage pumps are in use at hundreds of refineries, petro-chemical and chemical facilities around the globe.
"The three new HMP 7000 pumps will be used in parallel at the customer site, eliminating the need for 11 smaller pumps and ultimately reducing costs and increasing reliability," stated Shawn Olson, director of product management for Sundyne.
