Gore Offers High Data Rate Cable Assembly for ZD Connectors

Elkton, Md. (January 2004) – W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. (GORE), a leading provider of high data rate digital cable assemblies for the telecommunications, computing, and automatic test equipment markets, offers a cable assembly for the ZD backplane interface. The GOREâ„¢ EYE-OPENER® ZD Cable Assembly combines Gore's high data rate digital cable assembly technology with the ZD high-speed connector to offer an interconnect that delivers exceptional signal fidelity and reliability at bandwidths of 5 Gb/s and higher.

The GOREâ„¢ EYE-OPENER® ZD Cable Assembly uses expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) as the dielectric core for the digital interconnect cable. The helically wrapped ePTFE core ensures controlled electrical properties throughout the signal path. Its smaller diameter and minimum bend radius, combined with the low dielectric constant materials, allows more signal lines per area and delivers higher bandwidth performance more consistently than other comparable cable configurations.

Through the use of Gore's unique material, precision manufacturing and innovative design, the cable assembly offers the best and most consistent combination of low signal loss, low cross talk, low skew, controlled capacitance, and controlled impedance. By optimizing these properties, the assembly provides the most open eye patterns available at this density and data rate.
