Molecular Devices Announces ImageXpress Micro XL High-Content Screening System

SUNNYVALE, Calif., -- Molecular Devices, LLC., a leader in bioanalytical systems for drug discovery, life science research, and bioassay/test development, today announced the launch of the XL model of the ImageXpress® Micro System. Improving upon the existing ImageXpress Micro Widefield High-Content Screening System, the ImageXpress Micro XL System offers researchers the benefit of imaging twice the sample area to deliver statistically relevant results in half the time.

Incorporating state-of-the-art detector and illumination technologies, the system can capture cellular resolution images using a single-field that encompasses one 384 well, maximizing content up to 2-fold of what is acquired with standard camera HCS systems. This generous increase in field-of-view allows users to image twice the number of objects per image, minimizing the need to tile when capturing sizeable objects that span across the sample. The new MetaXpress® 4 Software complements the ImageXpress Micro XL System by increasing image analysis speed 100%, allowing acquisition and analysis of greater than 10 million cells per hour.

Maintaining the most extensive sample and objective compatibility, the ImageXpress Micro XL System raises the bar as the most flexible widefield high content screening system on the market. Combined with the longevity of a 10,000+ hour light source, researchers can feel confident in system robustness, while gaining a greater peace-of-mind the instrument will grow with their expanding applications.

"The launch of the ImageXpress Micro XL System is a shining example of Molecular Devices' ability to support researchers' efforts to run more screens and perform hit selection faster. Whether you are searching for rare events or investigating multifaceted cell signaling pathways, we are excited to offer twice the data points per image to decrease your time to perform cellular- and high-resolution screens" said Jennifer McKie, Senior Marketing Director, BioImaging at Molecular Devices.

"Assay window and reliability are enhanced with 3-log dynamic range and <5% CV for intensities across the plate, making certain your scientific breakthroughs are picture perfect for research publications" stated Jennifer McKie. "We believe these enhancements ensure researchers are equipped with the latest high content imaging technology to be at the forefront of drug discovery and cellular research."

The ImageXpress Micro XL System will be showcased at the MipTec, September 20 - 22 2011, Basel, Switzerland (Booth D33). For more information regarding the ImageXpress Micro XL System, go to http://www.HighThroughputImaging.com/screening/
