Designed for low-pressure water immersion or fording applications, KJAYA Series provides hermetic sealing of 0.01 micron cu-ft/hr for pressure differentials of 15 psi. It is available in sizes 9-25 in wall and jam-nut mounting receptacles and is water immersion sealed to 10-7 cm³/sec. Meeting all MIL-STD-810 and IP67 water immersion requirements, connector is suited for variety of applications including integrated avionics, radar, electronic warfare systems.

ITT Develops Lightweight Hermetic Connector for Integrated Avionics, Radar, Electronic Warfare Systems
PARIS, FRANCE - June 15, 2009 - ITT Interconnect Solutions, a leading global manufacturer and supplier of connectors, interconnects, and cable assemblies, has developed a hermetically-sealed connector with a lightweight aluminum shell for low-pressure water immersion or fording applications. Meeting all MIL-STD-810 and IP67 water immersion requirements, the KJAYA Series connector utilizes a special sealant and provides hermetic sealing of 0.01-micron cubic feet per hour for pressure differentials of 15 PSI.
"Traditional hermetic connectors designed to provide compression glass sealing with no leakage in excess of 0.01 micron cubic feet per hour utilize heavy-weight stainless steel shells capable of operation to more than 200 degrees C and in excess of 750 PSI. Yet many water immersion applications only require hermetic sealing to one atmosphere pressure differential (15 PSI) or less, and are required to operate only to 150 degrees C," said Keith Teichmann, director of marketing for ITT Interconnect Solutions. "Not only do these KJAYA Series hermetic connectors meet the lower pressure differential and temperature requirements, but they are also 50% lighter than traditional hermetic connectors, providing a critical benefit in military and aerospace applications."
The lightweight hermetic connectors are ideal for a variety of military and aerospace applications including integrated avionics, communication and navigation equipment, displays and instrumentation, data processing equipment, electronic warfare systems, radar and sensors, weapon controls and targeting systems, electronics countermeasures, radio and telecommunications devices, and battery packs.
The KJAYA Series connectors are available in sizes 9 through 25 in wall and jam-nut mounting receptacles. The connectors are water immersion sealed to 10 to -7 cubic cm per second, and the lightweight aluminum shells feature copper alloy contacts for reduced electrical resistance. The hermetic connectors are available in MIL-DTL-38999 standard insert patterns with either PC tail or poke-home crimp piggyback terminations. The PC tail version allows for fast termination to the PC board or flex assembly, while the crimp version employs standard M39029/57 short socket contacts for quick cable termination. Operating temperature ranges from -55 degrees C to +150 degrees C.
