Low Cost Heated GASS™ -Module Prevents Condensation in Sample Conditioning
Toms River, NJ (July 14, 2005) – To transform wet, hot and dirty stack gases into the cool, dry, clean gas samples critical to accurate stack emissions monitoring, Perma Pure offers the GASS™- Module (Modular Gas Analysis Sampling System). This module delivers unparalleled sample preparation in a cost-effective and reliable package that can be easily integrated into environmental analysis systems.
The GASS-Module’s Nafion® membrane dryers remove water, acid mist and particulate directly from the vapor phase, drying more completely than other technologies to eliminate water interference with sample gases. Nafion is a proprietary technology available only from Perma Pure under license from the polymer manufacturer, DuPont. Drying is a continuous, self-regenerating process with no moving parts or electronics; all control is deferred to the central system. This simplicity in design results in a low-cost, compact module that can be easily incorporated into analysis systems.
The filter and dryer inlet are heated to prevent condensation and consequently inhibit the loss of water-soluble analyte gases. The GASS-Module can process samples containing as much as 30% water by volume at flow rates up to 12 liters per minute and temperatures as high as 150°C. Particulates down to 1 μm are removed, and water content is reduced to dew points as low as -35°C. Removal of acid mist droplets prevents corrosion to extend analyzer life.
