Tyco Electronics Introduces Heat-Shrinkable Wraparound Repair Sleeves

-- Enable Fast, Permanent Repair and Sealing of Damaged Cable Insulation --

HARRISBURG, Pa. - April 14, 2008 - New QSW (Quick Shrink Wrap) heat-shrinkable wraparound repair sleeves from Tyco Electronics combine the ease of installation of self-adhesive tapes with the superior sealing and insulating capabilities of heat-shrinkable tubing. The black, adhesive-backed polyolefin wraparound sleeves permit fast, permanent repairs of minor damage to cable insulation without requiring the connector to be removed from the cable prior to repair. The sleeves can also be used to organize and group wire bundles.

The sleeves provide impact and abrasion resistance comparable to the original cable materials. Good fluid resistance makes the sleeves well suited for rail and mass transit, automotive and truck aftermarket, industrial machinery, commercial and military electronics applications.

Available in flat sheets with widths of 60 or 100 mm and lengths of 100, 200, 300 and 400 mm, QSW sleeves install quickly and easily with a small propane torch, high-output heat gun, or production oven. The adhesive bonds to most common insulation materials and to copper, steel and other metals. With a continuous operating temperature of -45°C to 110°C, the sleeves have a minimum shrink temperature of 70°C, with full recovery at 130°C.
